James Earp was the brother of famous lawman and gunfighter Wyatt Earp. He was born in Pella, Iowa in 1841 and worked as a stagecoach driver and farmer before becoming involved in law enforcement alongside his brothers Wyatt and Virgil. James Earp participated in the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona in 1881, although he was not as well-known as his brothers. After the gunfight, James Earp left Tombstone and eventually settled in California, where he lived out the rest of his days. He passed away in 1926 at the age of 84. While his brothers achieved greater fame and notoriety, James Earp played a supporting role in the wild west adventures of the Earp family.
